Icon awarded platinum sustainability rating by EcoVadis

9 Dec 2024 | Icon news, Sustainability

For many years, Icon has been conscious of our environmental and social impact and dedicated to implementing sustainable business practices. Sustainability is strategic focus for us and we recognise that we – along with the rest of the industry – are on a journey towards delivering global mobility services sustainably.

In our first EcoVadis assessment in 2023, we were proud to receive a gold rating, putting us in the top 5% of companies assessed. In our recent second assessment, we are delighted to have done one better and achieved a platinum rating, ranking in the top 1% of companies assessed. We have worked hard this year to expand and improve our sustainability practices and are delighted that our efforts have been recognised.

Who are EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is a global provider of business sustainability ratings, having worked with over 130,000 companies worldwide to evaluate and improve their sustainable business practices. They assess companies based on their environmental, social, and ethical performance across various categories, including environmental impact, labour practices, fair business practices, and sustainable procurement.

The results of an EcoVadis assessment are broken down into the following categories:

EcoVadis medals

Awarded based on the percentile rank of a company’s score compared to all companies rated over the previous 12 months.

  • Platinum: Top 1% (99+ percentile)
  • Gold: Top 5% (95+ percentile)
  • Silver: Top 15% (85+ percentile)
  • Bronze: Top 35% (65+ percentile)

EcoVadis badges

Awarded to companies outside the top 35% based on score requirements.

  • Committed: A minimum score of 45 (‘Good’)
  • Fast Mover: A score between 34-44 and a minimum improvement of 6 points compared to the previous assessment within 18 months

What progress have we made this year?

We have completed a number of steps this year to enhance our sustainable practices, including:

  • Diversity and equality training for all staff.
  • Improved the reporting of key performance indicators, including staff training on sustainability issues, information security and ethics
  • Changed to green energy providers
  • Reduced office waste levels
  • Set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement

Our actions are laid out in our annual CSR Report, which is available to any of our clients or partners on request.

Why does an EcoVadis rating matter?

Achieving a platinum sustainability rating from EcoVadis brings numerous benefits to Icon and to our global network of clients and partners. With both ISO 14001 and EcoVadis accreditations, our clients can be confident that the service we provide is not only top quality but founded in sustainable business practices.

Looking ahead to 2025, we have set goals to further enhance our sustainable practices and look forward to achieving them. Ultimately, we aim to drive positive change within the relocation industry and inspire others to follow suit.
