Stamp Duty Rise Set To Add To Landlords Costs

The cost of the new 3% stamp duty rate imposed on UK landlords by the Government in the Autumn Statement is the equivalent of 11 months’ income for the average mortgaged landlord, according to research by property services group Countrywide - a financial burden that may be initially absorbed by Landlords but who will inevitably seek to pass on rising costs to tenants.In the Autumn Statement, the Chancellor George Osborne announced an additional 3% stamp duty rate for landlords and second homeowners, effective from April 2016 and payable over and above the property sale price. UK House and Rental Prices Set to Continue to Rise, says Report
